PIVOTAL LNG SELECTED TO PROVIDE LNG FUEL FOR CONTAINER SHIPS

On Thursday, Pivotal LNG, a subsidiary of AGL Resources, and WesPac Midstream (WesPac), a private energy infrastructure company, announced they have been selected by TOTE Inc., a major marine company, to provide LNG to fuel two new container ships in Jacksonville, Florida. To move forward on this project, Pivotal LNG, WesPac and TOTE have signed a letter of intent and are working toward definitive agreements. Pivotal LNG and WesPac plan to create a joint venture that will develop a new LNG plant in Jacksonville. In late 2012, TOTE announced plans to build the world’s first LNG- powered container ships at NASSCO in San Diego. “These new innovative, environmentally friendly Jones Act ships will provide decades of reliable and environmentally superior service to the people of Puerto Rico,” said Peter Keller, EVP of TOTE and project lead Pivotal for the TOTE LNG programs. TOTE’s new dual fuel LNG container ships are expected to be delivered to the port in Jacksonville in late 2015 and early 2016.
