New CNG Station Opens in Texas

On Wednesday, first public CNG fueling station in Tyler, Texas, opened for business. First Alt Fuel President, Jamal Moharer says the project took nearly three years to implement, but makes economic and environmental sense for the community. With the opening of the new fueling station, Tyler will be able to serve a rising population of CNG vehicle users both in the city and passing through. Moharer listed several local companies with CNG-capable fleets, and emphasized the attraction of using CNG as a safe and less expensive alternative to oil products. Commissioners and representatives from around the state gathered for the ribbon-cutting ceremony, many of whom spoke about the possibilities this new fueling station will bring to Tyler. “We’re finding different ways to retain and attract businesses,” Texas DOT commissioner Jeff Austin said. Moharer says he hopes local auto dealers will take a lead in making NGVs accessible to consumers.
