Sunoco Receives Grant for New CNG Station in Pennsylvania

On Wednesday, Pennsylvania State Rep. Rob Kauffman (R-Cumberland/Franklin) announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) awarded a $591,000 grant for Sunoco to install a CNG refueling station in the borough of Chambersburg. Sunoco is planning to install a CNG station near an industrial area where several businesses have expressed an interest in using CNG for their vehicles, particularly a municipal waste hauler. The facility will also be available for the public and will be accessible to motorists traveling on I-81, which is adjacent to the property where the station will be located. The total project cost is $1,478,755. Sunoco will provide $887,253 in matching funds. Funding for the grant is made possible with funds resulting from impact fees placed on natural gas drillers in the state. The grant was awarded under the CFA’s Alternative and Clean Energy Program.
